I visited the street that I grew up on this weekend. There is nothing there now but dried up land and I suppose if I really think about it, there was really nothing there when I was growing up. We didn’t have much of anything and occasionally my sister and I will reminisce about how the people in school would make fun of us, talk about it, not having many friends and the painful words that would be used against us – due to circumstances that was far beyond our control (as a child).
I heard a man tell a story one time about being out right before a storm and seeing large beautiful eagle. He desperately wanted to take a picture of the eagle for us his children but had to run back to the car to grab his camera and he knew the storm was rolling in quickly. The wind was picking and but he made a run for the car, grab is camera but thought for sure that the fierce winds that were almost blowing him away would have caused the eagle to leave. The eagle was sitting perched in the same place, when he returned. The man snapped a few pictures of him. It appeared that the bird had waited there just for him. That sharp harsh wind that had begun to tear everything up in its path was whipping at the eagle but the eagle slowly opened his wings and appeared to float. It was beautiful! Everything else in the winds pathway was being destroy but the eagle used the wind to lift up.
The story of the eagle was so encouraging to me and I would like to encourage you with the same. Take that which has come against you and use it to lift you higher. Those things that seem too hard to bear, hard to make it through; that you may not have control over – that rip at your very existence and try to tear you down or destroy you – use them to lift you higher. NO weapon formed against you will prosper. The things that attempt to rise against you in judgement – God will condemn. Your past does not have t be your future. And the pain that you might be facing right now does not have spill over into your tomorrow. There is nothing too difficult of God and He still has a plan for you.
Isaiah 40:31 says . .
But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint
